Ada Louise Davis

Ada Louise Corkill Davis, 88, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 17, 2012. She was born in Morrilton, Ark. on July 30, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alta Corkill; her sister, Geneva Corkill Scroggin; and her two brothers, Merchia and E. L. Corkill. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Weldon Davis; three sons; Ben Davis and his wife, Linda, of Nashville, Tenn.; J. Lynn Davis of Little Rock; Tommy Davis and his wife, Jan, of Little Rock; seven grandchildren: Emily Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; Aaron Davis and wife, Natalya, of Boston, Mass.; Ellen Davis of Memphis, Tenn.; William Davis of Little Rock; Gracie Davis of Little Rock, Blake Davis of Little Rock; Alison Davis of Little Rock. She is also survived by two sisters, Osa Corkill Moore, of Plaquemine, La.; Maxine Corkill Falls and her husband, Bunn of North Little Rock, and numerous nieces and nephews. After graduating Morrilton High School in 1943, she briefly entered nursing training at Maryville College in Tennessee. After 1 year, she enrolled in Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway, where she graduated in 1948 in a degree in economics and accounting. She then taught elementary school in Scott, Ark. and Mt. Vernon, Ark. until she moved with her husband, Weldon to North Little Rock where she became a stay at home mom with her three sons. Instead of a soccer mom, she was a football/basketball/baseball/track, mom, also backyard coach and referee mom. She loved bowling and playing bridge with her friends. She was involved in PTA from kindergarten through high school, performed volunteer work at the March of Dimes and Park Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. She loved to travel, having visited Canada, Hawaii, England, Switzerland, France, Germany, and the Isle of Man, where she visited the Corkill ancestry home. The family would like to thank 4NW nursing staff at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center and Arkansas Hospice Care for their care and understanding. A very special thanks to Sandie Kiser and Adrianne Furlough, for their excellent loving care. Visitation will be at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400) from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, #1 Children's Way, Little Rock, Ark. 72202 or a favorite charity.
