Surrounded by her family, wrapped in love, Helen Kathleen McKay Crow passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2012, exactly one month before her 100th birthday. Born January 3, 1913 in Postelle, Arkansas, "Kat" was the eldest daughter and fourth child of eleven born to Robert J. and Josephine Vick McKay. Kathleen was a 1932 graduate of Clarendon High School and a member of the Brinkley First United Methodist Church. On May 8, 1936, she wed John Jefferson Crow of Holly Grove at Clarendon First Methodist Church. For over fifty years their home in Brinkley, Arkansas was a haven of love and comfort for family and friends. Together they owned Brinkley Furniture Company for thirty five years and served the community in many ways. She served as past president of the local PTA, was a member of the Garden Club and Gli Amici Club. Kathleen loved spending time playing golf with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player and traveled many places to play duplicate bridge including Hawaii. Most important in her life was her family, always making each member feel special. Kathleen was quick-witted, was the source of much fun and the loving matriarch of the family. This spring, 100 family members celebrated her centennial year with a weekend of shared memories and love. Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Mary Cay Crow of Fayetteville, Martha Crow Hunter and husband Schuyler of Huntsville, Ala., daughter-in-law, Candy Crow of California; sisters, Marjorie Maher of Silver Spring, Md., Josephine McCampbell and husband Harry of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren, Angie Crow, John Crow III, Casey Crow, Kelly Crow, Jud Norris, Kate Norris Baldwin, Scott Yarbrough and Brooke Hunter and great-grandchildren, Avery Norris, Nicholas Crow, Noah Crow, Aaron Crow, Ben Baldwin, Mailer Baldwin, Gabriel Baldwin and Abraham Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John J. Crow, son, John J. Crow, Jr., brothers, Magnus, J.D., Robert, William, Paul, Forrestal and Pat McKay and sister, Mayola Powers. Services were Saturday December 8, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Brinkley, where John and Kathleen had been members for over fifty years. Rev. James Rowland officiated. Pallbearers were Schuyler Hunter, John Crow III, Scott Yarbrough, Jud Norris, Casey Crow and Dewey Crow, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers serving are Donnie McKay, Pat McKay, Rick McKay, Robbie Powers, Todd McCampbell, Tom Ashburn, Mike McKay and John Paul McKay.
