Sara Alice Bays May

Sara Alice Bays May, 92, of Pine Bluff, died December 23, 2012. The daughter of the late Horace H. and Gladys Mamie Quinn Bays was born in Pine Bluff September 18, 1920, was a Pine Bluff High School graduate and attended Ouachita Baptist College. As a young woman she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and E.B. and F.R. Bloom. She married Charles A. May, Jr. on December 19, 1941. Mr. May died December 17, 1992. She joined the Cotton Belt Railroad, working there for thirty years before retiring as a Purchasing Department secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the DAR. Her survivors include a daughter, Alisa May Ragans (Charlie) of Hoschton, Georgia; four granddaughters, Kristen Ragans Clements, Kerry Ragans Smith, Cynthia May Scallion, and Jennifer May Ford; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Sprout May of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles A. "Chuck" May, III and a brother, Horace H. Bays Jr. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. The family will receive friends at Robinson's from 10 a.m. until service time. Private burial follows in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials requested to First Baptist Church, 6501 S.
