Lillian "Bill" Short

Lillian E. "Bill" Short of Beebe, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born on Aug. 9, 1917 and grew up at Stoney Point. "Bill," during her lifetime, managed a cafe in Beebe and was a supervisor at a munitions plant in Jacksonville during WWII. She moved to Little Rock where she worked as a telephone operator and married the late Dr. Harold Short. She then returned to Beebe, where she raised her family and helped her husband establish his medical practice. She remained a life-long resident. She had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Beebe for over fifty years. She also enjoyed her membership in the Red Hatters and was an "avid conversationalist." She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Fecher; two brothers, Chester Fecher, and Edwin Fecher; and two sisters, Thyla Fecher and Opal Baxter. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith (Ricky) of Plano, Texas; her son, Dr. Harold K. Short (Sandra) of Jacksonville; four grandsons, Adam, Clay, Jake and Nathan Short; and a host of special nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her many friends for your kindness to her over many years. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at White County Medical Center for the excellent care provided during her illness. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral services will be help at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Beebe. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe.
