Tommie Jean Tolson

Tommie Jean Tolson, 87 of Walnut Ridge passed away December 25, 2012 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Born June 19, 1925 in Dalton, daughter of Everett and Mazie Bailey Stubblefield. She was united in marriage for 66 years to Billy Ray Tolson, on October 5, 1946. She was a Southwestern Bell Telephone Operator, Field Representative for (NORC) University of Chicago and a homemaker. She also volunteered as a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence Co. Historical Society, Meals on Wheels Coordinator for Walnut Ridge, Lawrence Co. Food Bank, Adult Literacy Coach, Lawrence Co. Resource Council, Lawrence Co. Hospice Coordinator, Gideon International Women's Auxiliary, First Baptist Church Sunday School Teacher, Women's Missionary Union, Vacation Bible School, Youth Mission Groups and various mission trips served. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and a sister, Nadine Pierce of Nashville, Tenn. She is survived by four sons, Ron and Marsha Tolson of Little Rock, Brent and Cheryl Tolson of Winfield, Kan., Barry and Martha Tolson of Jonesboro, and Phillip Tolson of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Mary Ellen Dearborn of Rosamond, Calif.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Adams of Little Rock, Matthew Tolson of Rogers, Jennifer Schmitt of Lake Jackson, Texas, Kimberly Tolson of Lewiston, Idaho, and Drew Tolson of Jonesboro; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Adams of Little Rock, Cameron and Maddison Schmitt both of Lake Jackson, Texas; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be Saturday December 29, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Bro. Mark Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt, Drew, Mike, and Wendell Tolson, Charles Adams and Jack Allison. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Davis and Frankie Wilcoxson.
