Elizabeth (Beth) Anne De Noble
1954–2012 of Carpinteria, Calif.
Beth passed away Dec. 18, 2012, surrounded by her supportive community who mourn the loss of her friendship here on earth, but celebrate her new found freedom and joy in finding peace with the Lord. Beth lived life as if she could "Dance as though no one is watching you, Love as though you had never been hurt before, Sing as though no one can hear you, Live as though heaven is on earth." There is no doubt that she is now dancing and singing with gusto.
Beth was born with cerebral palsy, in Lubbock, Texas on March 19, 1954. She grew up in Little Rock, Ark. with her family until the death of her father, Henry M. de Noble at which time she moved to Santa Barbara, Calif.
After graduating from Dos Pueblos High School, she took classes at Santa Barbara City College. She was a life-long learner, who amazed us all with her prodigious memory and ability to tackle modern technology. She has lived in Carpinteria independently since 1996.
Despite being fiercely independent, she valued her family, friendships, and her "chosen family" above all else. Beth and Phil Womble recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of their life partnership. They had an inspirational bond forged in mutual respect and love that "always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres" 1 Corinthians 13:7.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her mother, Helen K. de Noble and nephew, Phillip B. de Noble. She is survived by her brothers, Keith (Edna) de Noble, Timothy (Anne) de Noble and her sister, Deborah (Michael) Wilson; her nephews, Chris de Noble, Brett (Marisa) and Matthew Wilson, William, Henry and Harris de Noble, her niece and Goddaughter, Elizabeth (Matt) Ryther and niece Andrea (Eric) Flodberg, and three great nephews and two great nieces. She is also survived and was greatly supported by her "chosen family," Maria "Blanca" Moria, and the staff at UCP and her many devoted friends.
Beth was a larger than life, fire ball spirit that proved to be an inspiration to others. Her willingness to tackle life's seemingly insurmountable challenges with gusto set an example. She found support and solace in her faith and joy in her friendships. Her determination and courage provided her with the tools to live life to its fullest potential.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 5073 Hollister Avenue, Santa Barbara, Calif. 93160.
In lieu of flowers, donations "in memory of Beth De Noble" can be made to either: UCP Work Inc., 5464 Carpenteria Ave., Ste. B, Carpinteria, Calif. 93013 or Christ the King Episcopal Church, 5073 Hollister Ave., PO Box 6188, Santa Barbara, Calif. 93160.
