Betty Carolyn Harrison

Dr. Betty Harrison, PhD, age 73, of Magnolia, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Dr. Harrison was born January 11, 1939, in Cale, Arkansas, to Denver Gaston Cook and Minnie Haddox Cook. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Ark., and a retired LSU professor. Dr. Harrison was a member of the following: Phi Kappa Phi, Ioda Lambda Sigma, Kappa Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Ioda, Gamma Sigma Delta (Honorary); American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Louisiana Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Education, National Association for Career and Technical Education, Louisiana Association for Career and Technical Education, Texas A&M Former Student Association, Professor and Former Director of School of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development; Platinum Edition of Who's Who Registry Worldwide. Dr. Betty C. Harrison was endowed with a Graduate Fellowship by an anonymous donor in her name. Dr. Harrison was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband, David B. Harrison; her son, Jerry David Harrison of Azle, TX; her daughter, Phyllis Harrison Bennett and husband, William Charles of Houston Texas; her grandchildren, Paul David Bennett of Columbus, Ga.; and Lynley Nicole Bennett of Houston, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, Ark., with Bro. Joe Brown and Bro. David Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bluff City, Ark. Pallbearers will be Steve McAteer, Gary McAteer, Donald Ray Beaver, Larry Beaver, Donald Young, Rob Wright, Raymond Whitehead, Mike Whitehead, Michael Mayton, Joe Kotrlik, Steve Scallon, and Jeremy Souter.
