Thomas "Tom" "TJ" Jewell Lawrence, age 86, passed away Feb. 1, 2012. He was a loving father, grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. He was born June 8, 1925 in Little Rock, Ark. to TJ Lawrence and Villa Gilbert and lived in Little Rock, Ark. for most of his life graduating from Mabelvale High School in 1943. After graduation, during WWII, he enlisted as an Aviation Cadet with the Army Air Forces where he served 2 yrs, was discharged and enlisted with the Army Air Corps. as a Flight Officer. He became a B-25 pilot and a flight instructor until his discharge in 1945. He learned many trades over the years, including being a barber, and eventually retired from Our House A Shelter for the Homeless as a Small Engine/Appliance Instructor. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay McDowell and Thomas Lee Lawrence and is survived by his grandchildren, Anthony Walton, Catherine Cullen, and Jean Aganon along with 8 great grandchildren and many cousins, nephew and nieces. Our family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas Hospice Care for their wonderful care they had given him and a special thanks for his care over the last years by his cousin Linda Ott and her son James Styers. We also truly appreciate Reba and John Matthews through the help with Hospice who took wonderful loving care for TJ in his last several weeks of his life. A visitation will be held Friday, February 3rd from 5-6 p.m., Huson Funeral Home, Inc. and graveside service on Saturday, February 4th at Halstead Cemetery at 11am.
