Eva Nelle Smith

Eva Nelle Ricker Smith, 84 of Plainview AR, passed away on February 2, 2012 in Marshall TX . Memorial services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 6:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Humphrey Funeral Home in Russellville (www.humphreyfuneral.com) and will be followed by a visitation. Nelle, as she was lovingly known by her family and friends, was born February 23, 1927 in Blue Mountain, Ark., to William Loye and Faye Evelyn English Ricker. She married Jason W. Smith on December 19, 1945. They lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico early in their marriage and returned to Plainview in 1958. They are best remembered as owner and operators of Smith Mercantile in Plainview until their retirement in 1980. Upon retirement they enjoyed traveling, spending time with beloved family and camping at Ricker Camp. Nelle is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Chuck Cox of Ashdown, Ark., and Nina and Randy Bolton of Russellville, Ark.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason (Ricky) and Dara Smith and Phillip and Phyllis Smith all of Marshall, Texas; her grandchildren and their families, Aaron, Avery, and Addison Smith, Andy Bolton, Chad, Gwen, and Ashton Smith, Keith, Nikki, Dustin, Daniel, Kristin Smith and Morgan Dunham, Jason Daniel and Kimber Smith, and Clay Smith; sister, Beulah Faye Ricker Tramel of Russellville, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe K. and Diane Ricker of Texarkana, Texas, brother-in-law, Ken Smith; sisters-in-law, Mollie Ricker, Ann Ricker, Joy Ricker, and Julie Ricker; many numerous nieces and nephews. Nelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years; and infant son; granddaughter, Lucy S. Bolton; brothers, George Ricker, Kerry Ricker, John C. Ricker, William (Bill) Ricker, Robert (Bob) Ricker; sisters, Beth Ricker Burnham, Nancy Ricker Smith, and Eulurle Ricker Wall.
