Geneta Pauline Alphin Curtis

Geneta Pauline Alphin Curtis Geneta Pauline Alphin Curtis departed this earthly life on Monday, February 13, 2012 at St Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Geneta was born on December 30, 1929 to Clyde Edward and Minnie Ann Alphin in Ravenden Springs. The family settled on a farm in Knobel where she attended school and met her mate for life, Paul Max Curtis. She and Max married on December 1, 1945 and remained partners until his death on July 1, 1990. Geneta is survived by the pride and joys of her life, her five children, three sons including Raley and Sherryl Curtis of Williford, Rick Curtis and partner Laura Owens of Murphy, Texas, Dr. Paul Max, Jr. and Tonya Curtis of Jonesboro; two daughters Pam and Ken Anderson of Little Rock and Margaret Ann and David Cooper of Paragould; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three cherished sisters, Shirley and Jerry Bateman of Knobel, Virginia and Johnny Hancock of Knobel, and Geraldine Hancock of Corning; three beloved sisters-in-law, Loral Curtis of Peach Orchard, Inez and Gene Clampit of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Helen Curtis of Brownsville, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Geneta enjoyed owning and operating with Max first the farm in the Hillstring Community then in 1980, the Corning Inn Restaurant until Max's death. At that time, she retired and spent her time gardening and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was also active in the First Freewill Baptist Church in Corning. In July 2011, she moved to the Sunshine Manor Retirement Home in Paragould which became "almost like home" to her. Pallbearers are Mark Curtis, Darrell Curtis, Daniel Curtis, Dewayne Bateman, Michael Gleghorn, and Matthew Curtis. Graveside service will be Thursday Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at Corning Cemetery with Herbert Holsapple officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wed. 6-8 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Cancer Society.
