Walter Ross Smith

Walter Ross Smith, age 84, of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away Thursday February 16, 2012. He was born June 2, 1927 to the late Robert John Smith and Edna Violia Kelly Smith. Walter served in both the United State Army and Air Force. He retired from the Grant County Highway Department after over 19 years of service, during that time he loved to tell many stories about which roads he had worked on, and the number of ladies flowers he cut dawn and had to answer for. He loved to play the guitar for his family and friends, and was a faithful member of Center Grove United Methodist Church. Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruthie, one brother and two sisters. Walter is survived by his daughter, Pam (Larry) Peterson; one grandson, Corey Peterson of Sheridan; and two nephews, David & Bruce Rodgers, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the chapel of Buie Funeral Home with the funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., burial following at Center Grove Cemetery, Sheridan, Arkansas.
