Leslie Susan Crews, age 60 of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. She was born on Oct. 31, 1951 in Richmond, California to the late Paul O. Crews and Ruth Ann McCoys Crews. As the daughter of an Air Force pilot, Leslie and her sister, Paula traveled the world living on base communities in California, Wyoming, Massachusetts, Missouri, the Okinawa Island of Japan and the United Kingdom, too. After leaving England, the Crews family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas, then on to Little Rock. She graduated from McClellan High School in 1969, and then attended college at Arkansas State University. Lesli enjoyed a 30-year career with AT&T/Southwestern Nell Telephone. She served as a senior executive assistant in the legal department and to many of Arkansas' from company Presidents. In 1999, Lesli moved to San Antonio, Texas, to work at Southwestern Bell's (now AT&T) corporate headquarters where she retired in October 2003. Throughout her life, she loved and nurtured many furry friends – cats, dogs and several horses, too. Lesli was an equestrian trained in the traditional Dressage style of English riding. She also enjoyed taking art lessons and cooking delectable dinners for family and friends. Lesli also served for many years as a caring mentor to Rachel, and was honored in 1996 as Big Sister of the Year by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Pulaski County. Les also enjoyed escorting her mother to Durant, Okla. high school reunions, and her father to several U.S. Air Force Flying Tiger reunions. Les loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her father in 1993, Major Paul O. Crews. Leslie is survived by her mother, Ruth Crews of Little Rock, Ark.; one sisters, Paula Crews Callaway and her husband, Jim Callaway of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Colby Callaway and his wife, Julie and their children, Kylie, Kate and Caden Callaway of San Antonio; nieces, Carter Callaway of Wilson, Wyo. and Casey Callaway Rhodes and her husband, Rick of St. Louis, Mo. She also leaved behind cherished memories to a swarm of cousins and longtime friends. Those in Leslie's life will forever miss her graceful manner, he "let it be" non-judgmental attitude towards others and the love she shared with us all. A memorial and graveside service will be held on Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark. at a later date with arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
