Becky Millican Fry Menefee left us on February 17, 2012. She had been suffering from cancer for several months, but the end was peaceful and pain-free. She was surrounded and lifted in prayer by her family. Becky was born Rebecca Anne Millican on February 3, 1954 to Bill and Rose Millican. She joined a family that already included her two older sisters, Melinda and Suzie. The family was complete when her two younger sisters, Marianne and Robyn, were born. Becky married young. With her husband, Michael Fry, she was blessed with two wonderful children, Angela Michelle and Brad Michael. When that marriage ended she found love again with George Menefee. The last years of her life were spent with him at Canyon Lake, Texas. Her son, Brad is married to the former Jennifer Fernandez. He and Jennifer gave Becky her two precious grandchildren, Justin and Izabella; and a great-grandson, Jacob. After years of office work, Becky returned to school to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. Until the cancer made it impossible for her to continue, she worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. She loved her job, her co-workers, and her patients with her whole heart. Just a week before she died, her co-workers brought her a quilt that they had made for her in their quilting group. As a member of that group, she had helped make many quilts herself. The quilt that they brought her was with her right up until the end. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Rose Millican, and her infant sister, Diane Millican. Those left to mourn her are her husband, George Menefee; the father of her children, Michael Fry; her children, Angela Fry, Brad (Jennifer)Fry, Heather Frazer; and her grandchildren, Justin Fry, Izabella Fry, Christopher Frazer, Alli Frazer, and Rachel Frazer; her great-grandson, Jacob Garcia; her sisters, Melinda (David) Zolzer, Suzie (Toby Barker) Whiting, Marianne (Brian) McMillan, and Robyn (Denby) Roberts; her nieces and nephews, Ricky Flores, Melanie Jaramillo, Johnny Whiting, and Katie Dougherty, Riley Roberts, and Rachel Roberts; and by other relatives, countless friends, and co-workers. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 2:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio Texas. Rev. Joe Walts and Rev. Wade Lindstrom will officiate. Those who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 291048, San Antonio, Texas 78229; or to Trinity Episcopal Church Memorials Fund, 148 Rue Touline, Natchitoches, La. 71457.
