Lula Montene (Hargett) Haney, age 88, of Rose Bud, Ark., passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at home surrounded by family. Born at Mt. Vernon, Ark., on Dec. 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James O. and Emma Alice (Brazier) Hargett. She married Edgar L. Haney on July 27, 1942. She worked alongside him clearing and developing their farm and was a housewife and devoted mother to her three children and two grandsons whom she raised. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Haney; a son, Paul E. Haney; a daughter, Barbara J. (Haney) Wheeler; a brother, Charles Hargett; and two grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are one brother, James C. Hargett of Jacksonville; three sisters, Dorene Haney and Sue Reddick, both of Rose Bud, and Marie Jones (Arthur L.) of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Kay Ring of Rose Bud; grandchildren, Bobby Haney and Clinton Wheeler, both of Jacksonville, Rickie (Tina) Ring, Richie (Debra) Ring, Paul Haney, and Jason Lynch, all of Rose Bud, Dana Ross and Rita Haney, both of North Carolina, Kurtus Dore and Richard Wheeler, both of Washington, Alicia Lawson of Texas, Leslie Bailey of Beebe, and Alanna Turnbow of Providence; 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haney is also survived by other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at Olmstead Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday at the Rose Bud Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Bro. Tony Criswell officiating. Pallbearers are Rickie Ring, Richie Ring, Paul Haney, Clinton Wheeler, Brad Chaney, and Allen Wray. www.olmstead.cc.
