Mary Katherine Goodwin

Mary Katherine Kohl Goodwin, 78, of Bee Branch, Ark., departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at her home. She was born Nov. 17, 1933 at Scotland, Ark., to the late Clem A. and Myrtle I. (Nixon) Kohl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Myrtle Kohl; her brother, Clem Kohl; her daughter, Mary Katherine Hicks; and her husband, Fred Goodwin. She is survived by four children, William R. Wheeler; Thomas J. Wheeler and wife Sarah; Bonnie S. Payne and husband Roger; and Charles D. Hicks Jr.; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In spite of a lengthy illness, she enjoyed life and spent time sharing God's love and promise to the bereaved and others in need of encouragement and strength through her poetry for every occasion and sharing her ministry with others. Mary K. was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church and strived to help others in spiritual and physical distress until her illness kept her at home. She is dearly loved and will be missed very much. Pallbearers: Joe McHam, Paul Rhoda, Keith Bonds, Brad Freeman, Jerry Pico, and Michael Crowell. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton, Ark. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at Clinton First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Bradley Cemetery.
