Bill E. Hammett, of Conway, went to be with the Lord, January 8, 2012. He was born December 2, 1927, in Appleton, Arkansas, to the late Ollie and Georgia Bell (Harvell) Hammett. He is a graduate of Conway High School, an Army Veteran and a 1955 graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA). He taught at Southside High School and Guy High School. He owned and operated Hammett's Cleaners, since 1949. He was a member of University Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother; grandson, Billy Shane Lasley; sister, Judy McCarty; and two nephews, Tim Hammett and Kevin McCarty. Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Gammill) Hammett; two daughters, Ceresia Moix (Pat) and Maresia Lasley (Jeff); sister, Estelene Duke, all of Conway; two brothers, Lonis Hammett of Greenbrier and Ollie Hammett, Jr., of Conway; and six grandchildren, Stephen, Isaac and Mary Elizabeth Moix and Jeffrey, Sissy and Jacob Lasley. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. Bill's funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, with Jim Bob Baker officiating. Entombment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Lasley, Isaac Moix, Jacob Lasley, Stephen Moix, Adam Hammett, David Duke and Scott McCarty. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Penn, Jimmy Jennings, Robert Lieblong, Stanley Russ, Harold Brady, Mike Stout, Gene McCarty and Raymond Brown. The family requests memorial contributions be made to: Arkansas Children's Hospital St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Or CARTI-Conway.
