Basil Eaton, 86, of West Memphis passed away peacefully January 12th at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro surrounded by family. He was born October 11, 1925 to the late Cecil and Julia Eaton in Pocahontas, Ark. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. He was a life member of the V.F.W and served as Past Commander of V.F.W Post 4449 in Marianna, Ark. He was a 32nd degree Mason and of the Baptist faith. Basil had been employed by several agencies of the State of Arkansas including the Highway Department, Alcoholic Beverage Control and retired as Assistant Supervisor of Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. He was preceded in death by mother and father, brothers Hovie, Cecil Jr, and W.H (Bill). He is survived by his wife, Imogene, of 64 years of marriage, sons, Glenn (Ginger) of Mesquite, Texas, Allyn (Rose) of Jacksonville, Ark., Chuck (Ann) of West Memphis, Ark., and sister Fern of Charleston, Mo.; sisters in Law Anna Eaton of Batesville, Ark. and Mary Anne Eaton of Jonesboro, Ark.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for their loving care during this difficult time. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, January 14th at Ermert Funeral Home at 1000 West Elm Street, Corning, Ark. 72422. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating, interment to follow at Corning Cemetery.
