Francis Paul Murphy

Francis Paul Murphy, 87, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away, Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Hospice Home Care, from complications of Congestive Heart Failure. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Connie of 63 years, his parents, Gertrude and Brink Murphy, as well as his son, Michael Paul Murphy. Paul was born September 6, 1924 and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. After a career of 42 years, he retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1987. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and a member of the Men's Club. He served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus #6615 in Little Rock, where he was a past Grand Knight, and he was also a member of the 4th Degree #24, Andrew J. Bryne, Little Rock, AR. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation. During World War II, he served in the United States Army, 104th Infantry Division. He was a member of the "Timberwolves." He was a PFC, 387th Field Artillery Battalion. Paul is survived by eight children, Patrick (Mary Clare) Murphy, Kansas City, MO, Mary (Charles) Stebbins, Lenexa, KS, Paula (Norm) Hendricks, Lake Oswego, Ore., Mark (Lynette) Murphy, Maumelle, Ark., Colleen Carmitcheal, Olathe, Kan., Maureen (Gary) Bowden, Jodi (Glenn) Heer and Shelley (Mark) Allen all of Little Rock. Paul was proud of his very large family and will be greatly missed. Paul also leaves 17 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 13th at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock 72209 (501) 455-5800. A Rosary will follow. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th, Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, Ark. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
