Loy Sherman Beene, Sr.

Loy Sherman Beene Sr., 89, of Greenbrier, went to be with the Lord January 15, 2012. He was born August 13, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas, to the late John and Cassie (Hill) Beene. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the 746th Tank Battalion. He was a cotton farmer, he worked for Terry Dairy for two years and Dean's Milk for 26 years. Loy owned Toad Suck Catfish Inn, for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Ed Beene, Toy Beene and Coy Beene; three sisters, Vernie Hooper, Bonnie Mae Tipton and Ocrie Spradlin; two grandsons; and one great granddaughter. Loy is survived by three sons, Loy Beene, Jr. (Kristie) of Austin, Texas, Larry Beene of Vilonia and Joe Beene (Johnette) of Glenwood, Arkansas; one daughter, Brenda Beene of Greenbrier; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Sadie. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway. Loy's funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in the Chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Shawn Beene, Shannon Beene, Toby Beene, Brian Walton, Nick Frey, and Zach Beene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Beene, Wesley Beene, Trevor Beene, Erik Frey, Tad Beene, Todd Beene and Justin Beene.
