Kenneth H. Ellis

Kenneth H. Ellis of Harrison, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his daughter Pam on Saturday January 21, 2012 at Stonehaven Assisted Living in Maumelle, Ark. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel in Harrison, Ark. Services will be on Wednesday, January 25 at 2 p.m. also at the Chapel. Ken will be laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery alongside his loving wife Helen. He was born March 25, 1919 to Curtis and Jane Ellis of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Helen F. Ellis, his parents, five sisters, three brothers, and brother-in-law, William O. Woods of Harrison. He is survived by his son Harold Dean Ellis (Peggy) of Drummond, Tenn., daughter Pamela S. Russell (Robert) of Maumelle, Ark. His grandchildren: Clay, Kristal, Kenneth, Brian, Kimberly, Jennifer, Ashley and Stephen. His great-grandchildren: Cameron, Tyler, Calen, and Hadyn. He is also survived by his dear sister-in-law, Betty Woods Stewart and brother-in-law, Ross; and, by many nieces and nephews, and many friends who knew and loved him. Ken retired from Duncan Parking Meter Co. after 46 years of service. In his retirement he volunteered for several years as the cashier for the Humane Society Thrift Store in Harrison. He was a member of the Harrison Evening Lions Club for many years and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Ken loved animals, especially cats. He was known as the "cat man on the hill". At one time he had 21 cats he was caring for. He was instrumental in finding homes for many of them. His house cat, a Siamese named "Siam" passed in 2011 at the age of 21 years. His grandchildren gave him a Seal Point Siamese named Malibu" for Father's Day 2011. She has been given to a loving home. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Stonehaven Assisted Living in Maumelle, AR. and Arkansas Hospice for all their loving care and support. The family sends a special thank you to his friend and exercise companion, Brandon Boswell, for his loving care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the Ozark Humane Society of Harrison or to a charity of your choice.
