Dr. Robert Lee McFarlin, M.D. , died January 18, 2012, at 9:32 in the morning. Born in Peoria, Ill., he was the son of the late Loy Lester McFarlin and Julia Mae Collins McFarlin, and the husband of the late Helen Rayburn McFarlin. He is also survived by four beloved children, R. Bruce McFarlin & his wife, Dr. Kelty Baker of Houston, Texas, Cheryl M. Corey of Clearwater, Fla., Deborah McFarlin & Kim Sasajima of Ellicott City, Md. & Michael R. McFarlin & his wife, Deborah Byerly-McFarlin of Pottstown, Pa.; three beloved grandchildren, Joshua Corey of St. Petersburg, Fla., Katherine L. McFarlin of Houston, Texas & Alec C. McFarlin of Pottstown, Pa.; one beloved great-grandchild, Ethan Altieri of Gulf Port, Fla.; three beloved brothers, Jack McFarlin & his wife, Shirley of Little Rock, Ark., Richard McFarlin & his wife, Claire of Lakeland, Fla. & Whitney McFarlin & his wife, Gail of Lakeland, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. His professional memberships included the American Psychiatric Association, Peninsula Regional Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Med Chi, and Wicomico County Medical Society. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His advocational memberships include Pemberton Hall Foundation, the Archeological Society of Maryland, Inc., with sometime presidency of the Lower Delmarva Chapter, and the Wicomico County Committee of the Maryland Historical Trust. He was a member of the Advisory Committee on Archeology to the Governor and chairman of the Green Hill Church Preservation Committee. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. An ecumenical memorial service with Rev. Todd Kissam officiating, will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and may be of interest to the music community re: a pre-service "Mostly Sacred" recorded musical selections and post-service graveside "Mostly Opera" recorded musical selections. The service per se may be of interest to those of Jewish, Oriental Orthodox, (Coptic, Syrian Orthodox, Armenian), Orthodox, Byzantine rite Roman Catholic et.al. background. There will be a visitation with the family from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Harrington Parlor at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. A graveside memorial will be held at 3 p.m. at the Green Hill Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Graveyard Restoration Fund of the Green Hill Church Preservation Committee (Green Hill Preservation Committee, c/o Lay Phillips, 5480 Catchapenny Road, Quantico, Md. 21856) or to the Pemberton Hall Foundation Fund, Inc., 25416 Fairway Drive, Quantico, Md. 21856.
