Haynes Benson

HAYNES BENSON, 73, of Little Rock, died June 26, 2012. He was born Nov., 11, 1938, in Columbia, S.C., to the late Wilhelmina Benson Burton, and William Burton Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Robin Benson Johnson and Elvenia Benson; a son, Kaven Benson; and a brother, William Burton Jr. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Benson; two sons, James "Pete" Benson and Roderick Benson Sr., four daughters, Lois Meyers, Sonia Sams, Kimaka Scott, and Ta'Niece Benson, all of Little Rock; three brothers, Franks Burton Jr., Lewis Burton, and James Grant Jr.; three sisters, Eva Gadsden, Annie Sutton, and Jessie Mae Leak; a host of nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Family hour will be Thursday, July 5, from 6 p.m.–7 p.m. at Robinson Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Longley Baptist Church, 9900 Geyer Springs Road; Rev. Dwight Townsend officiating.
