James Preston Goyne

James Preston Goyne Jr., 84, of Eudora, AR died Monday, July 2, 2012 in Lake Village, Ark. James was born Feb. 3, 1928 in Jonesboro, Ark. He was formerly a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crossett where he served as a deacon for 17 years. More recently, he belonged to the First Baptist Church of Eudora. James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for 41 years as a shift foreman. James was preceded in death by Monteen "Tina" Goyne, his wife of 41 years and a son, Dennis Goyne. He is survived by his sister, Mary Turner of Eudora and a brother, Van Goyne of California. Other survivors include his son, Michael Goyne, his wife Linda, of Peoria, Ariz. and their daughters, Myla and Valeri Goyne. Also by his daughter, Susan Bain, and her husband, Bill, of Magnolia, Texas, and their children, Brigette and Michael Martin, Kristi and Lane Gourley, and Derek Bain. Additionally, James has seven great-grandchildren: Kaycee Bain, Ashlynn and Lauren Martin, Zane, Ford, Cash and Tate Gourley. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 5- 7p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Crossett. Services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com).
