Melisa Kay Nutt Goodwin, age 47, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away on July 9, 2012 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born on December 14, 1964 to her parents, Roger and Margaret Nutt of Crossett, Arkansas. Kay graduated from Crossett High School in 1983.She graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a B.A. Degree in Social Work. She worked for DHS for 15 years. She got an opportunity to take a position as a Hospice Social Worker for Peachtree Hospice. This was her dream job, working with people.She was working with Dierksen Hospice at the time of her death. She loved her patients and they loved her. Kay was an avid deer hunter, often seen at the deer camp hunting with her father and father-in-law.She was always very excited with her first deer each season.She also had the gift of laughter which was infectious to anyone who was around her. Kay was an active member of First Baptist Church of Stamps, Arkansas and enjoyed working in the nursery for many years. Kay was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Roger and Bernice Nutt, her maternal grandfather, Robert Croswell, and her father-in-law, James Goodwin. Kay is survived by her husband of 22 years, Charlie Goodwin of Stamps, Arkansas; Her Daughter who was the light of her life, Kasey Goodwin of the home, her parents, Roger and Margaret Nutt of Crossett; two sisters: Stephannie Pratt (Barry) of Eldorado, Beth Nutt of Little Rock; niece, Caroline Pratt of Eldorado; nephew, Benjamin Pratt of El Dorado; maternal grandmother, Lottie Croswell of Crossett, mother-in-law, Doris Goodwin of Stamps, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Stamps, Arkansas with Bro. Mike Turner & Shaun Dierksen officiating.Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the First Baptist Church of Stamps or Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mid-South Arkansas, 320 Executive Court Suite 101, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
