Norma Jean (Wherry) Scott

Norma Jean (Wherry) Scott, a long-time resident of North Little Rock, died July 5, 2012 at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, Georgia. Born in 1935 in Adaza, Iowa, Norma graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Iowa and also attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Norma worked for many years as an Arkansas state employee in the Department of Revenue, and at Dillard's Department Store in North Little Rock. She made very good friends at both places of employment. Norma enjoyed small social gatherings with friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She is survived by her sons, Shane and wife Karen and Jon and wife Gina; six grandchildren, Carl, Cassie, Christopher, Haydn, Grace and Jack; and two great-granddaughters, Laney and Mattie. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia (Wherry) Akers; sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Wherry) and Richard Overton; three nieces, Kimberly, Julie and Kristie; three great-nieces, Maggie, Betsy and Ainsley; and great-nephew, William. Norma was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Agnes Wherry, formerly of Adaza and Churdan. A service to celebrate her life is planned to be held in Churdan, Iowa in the church she attended as a child.
