Claudia Patricia Hale, 96, of Conway, passed from this life on July 13, 2012. She was born October 5, 1915 in Old Glaise, Arkansas, to the late Charles and Mary (Tucker) Vowan. She married the love of her life, Norman Hale, on June 16, 1934. He died just 21 days prior to their 75th wedding anniversary in 2009. Mom's passion was singing. She started singing at an early age with her family. She taught singing lessons and how to read music to the youth at Church. She took her students to nursing homes and other congregations to sing, she also sang for funerals. At age 58 she took up oil painting which she continued until her late 80's when she lost her sight. She also enjoyed quilting, making each child and many of her grandchildren special quilts. She taught herself to crochet when she was a girl and enjoyed that also until she lost her sight. In her later years she enjoyed reading books on tape. Her favorite memory from her teens was attending a dance where she and her date cleared the dance floor while others paused to watch them. She is survived by her son, Truman (Bud) Hale and wife Becky of Tulsa, Okla.; four daughters, Auneen Smith and husband Kenneth of Conway, Ark.; Shirley Robinson and husband Robbie of Benton, Mo.; Camilla Rollins and husband Charles of Conway, Ark.; and Jeanie Rice of Conway, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 23 great great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog Josie. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Hale, and grand-daughter Kim Robinson. A special thank you to caregivers Olivia Fuller, Diane Gatewood and Hospice Home Care nurses Scotty, Gayle, and Sandra. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Coffeyville Cemetery in Possum Grape, Ark.
