Bobby Callan

Bobby Lloyd Callan died Saturday, July 14 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born September 20, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to the late Marvin Orville and Arlie Belle Stewart Callan. He was a retired Captain of the Air Force and Army National Guard, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle and Boyce-Woods VFW Post No. 3141 in Dardanelle where he served as commander of the Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gwendolyn Martin; mother–in-law and fathers-in-law, Hayden Jennings and Lula and John Kaden and brother-in-law, Roy "Buck" Martin Jr. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Laura Jennings Callan; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Ray Edwards of Dardanelle; and son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Cyndia Callan of Pottsville; two granddaughters, Savannah and Ashleigh Callan both of Pottsville; two sisters, Jean Boren (Maurice) of Ashburn, Va. and Shelba Player (Johnnie) of Waco, Texas. Services will be Tuesday, June 17, 10 a.m. at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Jim Benfer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cornwell Chapel. Pallbearers will be Brad Judkins, Jamie Duarte, Brent Baker, Jake Jones, Randy Tankersley, Chris Price, Brig Peterson and Steve Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be, members of Boyce-Woods VFW Post No. 3141, Ever-So-Fast coffee Drinkers, Oliver Pickens, Franklin Wesley, Joe Via, Gene Lowrey and Johnny Blackford.
