Gertrude Beck Newman

Gertrude Beck Newman, age 90, of Morrilton, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012. She was born April 6, 1922, in Solgohachia, a daughter of Searove and Elizabeth Gangluff Zimmerman. She was a retired textile worker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Norbert) Burgener of St. Vincent, Betty (Billy) Gilmore of Plumerville; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Frank J. Beck and Ezra "Doc" Newman; two brothers, Alex and Victor Zimmerman; and sisters, Sue Parcell, Geneva Oxford, Mable Boudra, and Annie Barnes. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Jim Burnie officiating, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
