Pierce Armstrong Reeder

Pierce A. Reeder passed away on Sunday July 15, 2012 at the age of 95. He grew up in Western Ohio where he was orphaned at an early age. He spent his early childhood years in an orphanage and then spent his teenage years in a foster home with a farm family of German descent. Pierce made his way to Arkansas in the 1930's where he met and married the love of his life Geraldine Stiles, his loving wife of 65 years in Leola and became a member of her family for the rest of his years. He was the Mayor and Postmaster of Leola for many years and was a retired Army Colonel. Pierce is survived by one sister, Shirley Melvin of Kinsman, Ohio and his son, Jim, of Seattle Washington. He is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends that will miss him dearly. He lived a long and good life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Leola United Methodist Church in Leola with visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Leola, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; Leola United Methodist Church-Building Fund, c/o Mayetta Holland, P.O.
