Sister Herbert Huber

Sister Herbert Huber, age 91, died July 18, 2012. The family of George and Sophie Huber welcomed their first daughter, Sophie Josephine, Oct. 24, 1920, in Oedsbach, Baden, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents when she was a toddler. Sophie entered St. Scholastica Convent Sept. 2, 1935 and received the name of Sister Herbert on her investing day. She spent 53 years in the classroom teaching. She received her BA in German and Education from Atchison, Kan. She received her MA in German from Stanford University, Standard, Calif. Sister Herbert is survived by two sisters: Sister Rosarita Huber, St. Scholastica Monastery and Therese Hoelzeman, Morrilton Ark. She is survived by two brothers: Herbert Huber, Subiaco, Ark. and Stanley Huber, Chicago Ill., numerous nieces and nephews and her Religious Community. Sister Herbert was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Sister Marie Huber. Vespers for the dead will be Friday, July 20, 2912 at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Hugh Assenmacher as presider. Burial will be in the Monastery cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be Herbert Huber Jr., George, David, Mark, and Philip Hoelzeman, Ronnie Kaufman, and Glen Huber. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to St. Scholastica Monastery, Fort Smith, Ark. 72913.
