Conway Altom

Conway Altom, 92, of Searcy, died July 20, 2012 at the White County Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1920 in Floral, Ark., a son of the late Elmer and Pearl Altom. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and later the U. S. Air Force and retired in 1967. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Bald Knob. Survivors include his wife of almost 69 years, Irma Jean (Louks) Altom; son, Donald Altom (Dianna) of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; granddaughter, Katherine Altom of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Lois Rudesill of Modesto, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jason Altom; sisters, Gladys Altom, Aileen Elmore and Alma Jean Baker; brothers, Alvin and Hersey Altom. Services will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Reams and Bro. David Crouch officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9 a.m. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia.
