Ronnie Earl Loftis

Ronnie Earl Loftis, 64 of Redfield, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, of lung cancer. He was born August 19, 1947 in Ryan, Arkansas. He was the fourth of eight children born to the late Benjamin Ray Loftis and Vera Morris Loftis. After his mothers death, he helped take care of his younger siblings and he continued to be a caretaker and protector of his family for the rest of his life. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly in Vietnam. On August 29, 1970 he married the love of his life, Brenda June Cullum and they were married for almost 35 years before her death on January 19, 2005. As mom's health began to fail, dad was her devoted caretaker and made certain that she was comfortable in her final years. He worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. for more than 25 years before his retirement. He was an appliance service technician, and he was well known for his ability to fix almost anything. He was a man of great physical and inner strength and took great pride in caring for and providing for his family. Survivors include three sons: Scott Loftis of Pine Bluff, Joey Loftis and wife Vickie of Clarksville, and Jerry Loftis and wife Kim of Searcy; and seven grandchildren: Billy Joe, Bobby, Christina, Faith, Ronnie, Ryan and Zachary Loftis. He is also survived by four brothers: Ray Loftis of Bryant, Sammie Loftis of Shannon Hills, Gary Loftis of Mabelvale and Terry Loftis of Cabot, and a sister, Kay Sanders of Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters: Diane Castleberry of Bryant and Shirley Holland of North Little Rock. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the chapel of Wilson-Robison Funeral Home at England, with burial to follow in Mulberry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
