Gertrude Bowen Sharp

Gertrude Bowen Sharp, age 86, of Little Rock passed into the Lord's loving arms on July 25, 2012 to join her loved ones who've gone before her. She was born on Christmas Eve 1925 to Louie and Susie Markley of Mabelvale. She was a lifelong Lutheran. Gertrude had a fun-loving spirit and loved to laugh. She was an excellent cook and was proud of her cooking skills, especially her pies and Christmas dressing. She worked in several restaurants including her own and later worked at a nursing home where she earned her dietician certification. She loved the color red, baseball and dogs, but most of all, her family. She was the widow of Bill Bowen. She and Bill made their home in Mabelvale and raised their family there. Gertrude is survived by her children, Shirley Pharis, Jan Baldridge and Jim Bowen and his wife, Kay; two granddaughters, Ali Baldridge and Kristi Massey and her husband, Brandon, and their three sons. She is also survived by a sister, Elsie Appling. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Pastor James Walter officiating.
