Edward Lee Morris Sr.

Graveside service for Edward Lee Morris Sr., 81, of Coquille, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Coquille Pioneer Cemetery. Ed was born to Lee and Edna Morris on Dec. 2, 1930 in Morrilton, Ark. After a long battle with cancer, Ed left this life on July 26, 2012 at Life Care Center in Coos Bay. Ed and Lois Doss were married in Rison, Ark. on June 2, 1953. Later that year they moved to Oregon where they bore, raised and loved their children, Edward Jr. (Eddie), Roy and Kenneth (Kenny). Although Arkansas was always his home, Ed was a true Oregonian and worked in the woods industry most of his life. He worked various jobs at Roseburg Lumber in Coquille for 11 years and the rest of his work life was spent chasing dollar bills down narrow, muddy logging roads and white-dotted center lines from the landings where he loaded to the mills where he dumped. In his time, Ed drove for Westbrook Forest Products, Foglio Trucking, 3-Sons Logging, and Indian Creek Logging. He was also the proud owner/operator of his own log trucks. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Disabled American Veterans, a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church and the Coquille Valley Elks Lodge No. 1935. He is survived by many whom he loved: sons, Roy of Coquille and Kenneth of Coos Bay; sisters, Geraldine Johnson and Geneva Cope of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and his special friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; son, Eddie; sister, Louise; nephew, Randy and great niece, Linda. Arrangements are under the direction of Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service - Coquille Chapel, 541-396-3846.
