Gary Wayne Wilson

Gary Wayne Wilson, a resident of Huntsville, Ark., was born Oct. 8, 1951 in Berryville, Ark., a son of Frank and Lillie (Ramsey) Wilson. He departed this life Monday, July 23, 2012 in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 60 years. Gary was a long time and dedicated member of the Metalton United Baptist Church. He was a gifted musician, song writer and teacher. Gary won the gospel song of the year award from the Gospel Music Association, but refused it, because he said he wasn't in it for the money. He was in it to spread the word of the Lord. He had a very giving heart. Gary had many interests. He enjoyed traveling, sports, composing and performing music, along with restoring and refurnishing antique furniture. Gary graduated from Kingston High School, School of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas. In his early years he worked for C&R Block, Kimes Auto Supply and Tyson Foods as an accountant. He then went on to work for Ernst & Young as a CPA in Tokyo, Japan and taught Business School in Osaka, Japan. He retired after 23 years as a specialized agent for the IRS. Gary is survived by two brothers, Dearl Wilson and wife Adine of Marble, Ark. and Don Wilson and wife Jane of Metalton, Ark.; three sisters, Loretta and husband Bill Ross of Berryville, Ark., Ida and husband Jim Gage of Metalton, Ark. and Linda K. and husband Cecil Armer of Berryville, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Van-noy Wilson of Springdale, Ark. and Mickey Wilson of Green Forest, Ark.; many loving nieces and nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and many other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillie Wilson; two brothers, Verlin Wilson and Tom Wilson; two sisters, Verna and husband Jack Fancher and Lucy and husband Ray Root; one infant brother; one infant sister; one sister-in-law; one niece; one great-niece and two great-great-nieces. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
