Thelma Leigh Wallace Mattox Hamilton

THELMA LEIGH WALLACE MATTOX HAMILTON went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday night, July 26 in her home at Fox Ridge North. She was born on Aug. 3, 1917 in Liberty, Mo., the daughter of Dr. Lowell Taylor and Jessie Leigh Iler Wallace. Thelma attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., before transferring to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia where she graduated in 1943. She taught elementary school for 42 years in Arkansas and Tennessee. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, 1st Lt. Leo Winfred Mattox; her second husband, Edward Hart Hamilton; her brother, William Edwin Wallace and her grandson, Austin Spencer Hamilton. Thelma was survived by her three sons, Bill Mattox (Margie), of North Little Rock, Ark., Eddy Hamilton (Jan) of Williston, Tenn., and Keith Hamilton (Cindy) of Tallahassee, Fla.; and daughter, Sherry Mattox Dunn (Elvis) of Conway, Ark. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jimmy Dunn (Shelley), of Southaven, Miss., Michael Mattox of Little Rock, Ark., Shan McLean (Harley) of Moscow, Tenn., Griffin and Lia  Hamilton, of Tallahassee, Fla.; six great-grandchildren: Taylor Mattox, of Fayetteville, Ark., Ali Mattox, of Little Rock, Ark., Christian, Connor and Graham Dunn, of Southaven, Miss., and Ashli Humphries of Conway, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Norma Mattox Kramer (Bob) of Tulsa, Okla., Janice Wallace of Carlsbad, N.M., and special nieces and nephews. Thelma was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church. She was a sweet, energetic, talented, loving and generous lady with a great personal faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was loved by all her relatives and by her many friends. Her family would like to thank the residents and the staff of Fox Ridge North for their love, friendship and care. Appreciation and thanks are also given to the excellent staff of Arkansas Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held on July 30 at 6 p.m. in the Heard Building of Park Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Luke Flesher officiating. The family will receive friends at 5 p.m. until service time. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home South in Memphis with interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery South. A visitation will be held on hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Building Fund or to the Youth Ministry of Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 or your favorite charity.
