Jerry Glen Johnson, 65, of Cabot, Arkansas and formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed from this life on July 27, 2012. He was born December 15, 1946, to Carthul and Verda Johnson. The family moved to Flint, Michigan when Jerry was a child. He graduated from Kearsley High School in 1965 and attended Mott Community College. He worked as a skilled tradesman pipefitter at A.C. Spark Plug in Flint, Michigan until retirement. Jerry then moved to Cabot, Arkansas, where he became a "Gentleman farmer," as he liked to call himself. Jerry was best known for his quick, dry wit. He always had a joke to tell and liked to make others laugh. He enjoyed spending his free time with his friends and family at social gatherings. His children remember Jerry's great love of sports and professional boxing in particular, and they recall the many hours the family spent together watching The Wide World of Sports every weekend on the television. Jerry loved to stay busy and to work with his hands, and he always had a project going around the house. Jerry's greatest satisfaction came from the simple pleasures of working in his garden and caring for his farm animals. He was preceded in death by his father, Carthul Johnson. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Melissa Johnson of Mesa, Arizona, his son, Stephen Johnson of Cabot, Arkansas, his mother, Verda Johnson of Cabot, Arkansas; his sister, Debra (Johnson) Metzer of Cabot, Arkansas: his brother, Timothy (and spouse Brenda) Johnson of Beaverton, Michigan his four grandchildren: Brian, Jennifer, Aaron, and William; and his loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his many good friends.
