Glenda Magness, 68, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away on June 8, 2012 at her home in Bentonville, Ark., following a 10-year battle with cancer. Glenda was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on Jan. 13, 1944, to Cager and Sadie Goggans, Glenda graduated from White Hall High School in 1961, and for more than 40 years Glenda poured her heart and energy into a medical career as a radiology technician. Her desire to help others made her vocation a perfect fit for her personality and sweet spirit. Glenda began her career with Jefferson Hospital in Pine Bluff, and accepted a position with Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville in 1976. She then joined Northwest Arkansas Radiology Associates in 1978, where she spent the next 30 years serving her patients and forming life long friendships with doctors and staff. Glenda will be best remembered for her overwhelming love of family, friends and animals, her incredible giving spirit, and her delicious cooking. The loss of this special woman will be felt tremendously by all who knew her. The memory of her infectious smile and laughter will brighten the days when we miss her most. Glenda is preceded in death by her mother and father, Sadie and Cager Goggans, of Monticello, Ark., her brother Herb Goggans of Little Rock, Ark., her sisters Betty Spence of Monticello, Ark. and Sue McCune of Topac, Ariz. Glenda is survived by her husband Tom Magness, son Jeff Magness, daughter-in-law Christine Magness, grandson Bryton Magness, step-children Scott and Christina Magness, sister Ina Harris and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenda's kind heart and caring nature will be missed by countless others. Memorial services will be held at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012 in Fayetteville with Chaplain Audie Long officiating and eulogy performed by close friend, Dr. Murray Harris. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. The family respectfully requests, that in lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions be made to either the Circle of Life Hospice, Ovarian Cancer Research or the Washington County Humane Society.
