Michael Wayne Vandewater

Michael Wayne Vandewater was born on July 1, 1946 in El Dorado, Ark. to his parents, O.T. "Van" and Betty Vandewater. Following his public school education in El Dorado, Mike attended Henderson State College in Arkansas from 1964-1968 where he was a member of Phi Lambda Chi fraternity and was named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He received his Master of Arts in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1972. He spent his career working with the Richardson Independent School District in Dallas Texas as a school psychologist until his retirement. Mike was the last of the original founders of the Legacy Counseling Center in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his parents of Friendswood, Texas, as well as his sisters, Gail Ramsell (Richard) of Houston, Texas and Karen Fikes (Steve) of North Little Rock, Ark. and a brother, David Vandewater (Phyllis) of Nashville, Tenn., as well as his close friends, Ted Porter and his family, Danny, Timmy, Robby and Jenny of Dallas, Texas and Bubba and Tammy Weems of Dallas Texas. Mike was a loving son, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Gaston Oaks Baptist Church at Royal and Greenville in Dallas, Texas.
