Hugh H. Brown, 88, of Shirley, Ark. passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Ozark Health Nursing Center Clinton, Ark. He was born Oct. 18, 1923 at Shirley, Ark. to the late Homer R. and Sibyl (Bradford) Brown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and served his country aboard the Destroyer 580 USS Young. He was part owner and salesman for Merchants Wholesale Grocery Company Shirley, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lindsey Brown. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen (Cooper) Brown, they were married Dec. 24, 1949; two sons, Jerel and wife Kathleen Brown of Shirley, Ark., and Byron Brown of Hot Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Kevyn Allen of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; three grandchildren, Sharon (J.C.) Vera, Jeremy (Marcia) Brown, and Krystn Allen and two great-grandchildren, Laya and Holland Brown. Graveside service and Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Settlement Cemetery Shirley, Ark. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Ozark Health Foundation Scholarship Fund for Nursing. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.
