Mildred Virginia Owens Mitcherson

Mrs. Mildred Virginia Owens Mitcherson, 81, of Edgemont, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23. She was with her family by her side. Mildred was born in Cherry Valley, Ark. on Oct. 12, 1930, to Harry Joseph Owens and Zuma Dorothy Nixon Owens. She was an active member of the Holiday Hills United Methodist Church where she served many years as a communion steward and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved her bible study and was proud to complete the four part Disciple Bible Study Series. Milldred married her beloved husband, Aubrey Lawrence Mitcherson on Dec. 18, 1947. They were married for 61 years and worked side by side. They spent several years in the grocery store and farming business. In 1966, they established a motel and restaurant business in Pine Bluff, Ark. and Dumas, Ark. In 1993, they retired and moved to Greers Ferry Lake. They raised three children. Mildred loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She loved to travel, work in her yard and read. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attended many baseball games and other activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aubrey and her brother Buddy Owens. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Davis (Butch) of Sheridan, Aubrey L. "Butch" Mitcherson (Nancy) of Pine Bluff and Denise Williams (Kyle) of Conway; five grandchildren, Hope Hendrix, Gabrielle Mitcherson, Sommer Holcomb, Mitch Williams and Jacob Williams; six great-grandchildren, Drew Hendrix, Nathan Hendrix, Austin Holcomb, Hunter Holcomb, Kylie Holcomb and Kade Holcomb; two sister-in-laws, Arva Pearl Owens and Louise George. A celebration of life service will be held at Holiday Hills United Methodist Church in Greers Ferry, Ark. on Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m. with visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park in Harrisburg, Ark. at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Dan Brand will officiate. Pallbearers are Mitch Williams, Jacob Williams, Drew Hendrix, Austin Holcomb, Arnold Brewer and Bobby Faulkner. Memorials may be made to Holiday Hills United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8824 Edgemont Rd., Greers Ferry, Ark. 72067. Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements.
