Bobbie L. Hendrix

Mrs. Bobbie L. Hendrix, 79, of Antoine died March 1, 2012. She was a native of Mena, Arkansas, and married Gerald C. Hendrix of Antoine on December 26, 1952. Together, they farmed and were involved in other business ventures in the area for many years. After Mr. Hendrix, who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives, died in office in 1996, Mrs. Hendrix was elected to finish his term of office. Mrs. Hendrix was also preceded in death by her mother, Ida Lamb of Mena, a brother, Billy Campbell of Waldron, and a granddaughter, Lena Hendrix of Harding University in Searcy. She is survived by three sons, David B. Hendrix and Jeannie of Antoine, Ark., Kent Hendrix and Carol of Hope, Ark,, and Max Hendrix and Amanda of Brock, Texas. Surviving grandchildren are Tyler Hendrix, Sarah Hendrix, Clayton Hendrix, and Katie Hendrix. Mrs. Hendrix was a graduate of Henderson State University, with a master's degree in social work. She was interested in and involved in local history, serving on the boards of historical societies in Pike County and Pioneer Washington. She had done research on the history of the Crater of Diamonds and had published a book on the history of the diamond mine. She served on many other boards and charitable causes in the southwest Arkansas area. In recent years, she had lived in Mine Creek Village retirement community in Nashville, Ark, and was involved in many activities in the Nashville area. She was a member of the Antoine church of Christ, and was faithful in attendance for many, many years, even while living in Nashville. Funeral services will be Sunday March 4, 2012 at 2 pm. at Nashville Funeral home with Wallace Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Antoine Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. he family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harding University Nursing Building Fund or to the Southern Christian Home in Morrilton.
