Viva Nell Hoffman

Viva Nell Hoffman passed away March 1 at her home in White Hall. She was born in Enola, Ark. on July 25, 1930 to Bert E. and Nepha Woodward Haggard. She graduated from Central High School, England, Ark.., in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane Lee Hoffman; two sisters, Valeta McDonald and Nina Sue Brantley; one brother, Waldron Haggard and a special son-in law, Loyd Kirkpatrick. She is survived by her four children, Marcia Park (Clarence), Barbara Kirkpatrick and Denise Hoffman of White Hall and Rev. David Hoffman (Kim) of Conway, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Brandy Yates (Richard), Brooke Stayton, Beth Ricketts (Steven), Kelly Kirkpatrick-Lee (Joseph), Ryan Kirkpatrick, Kaitlyn Hoffman and Jordan Hoffman; and five great-grand children, Mason Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Harlee Stayton, Kali Ricketts and Christian Ricketts. Her working career was in federal service, first with the Pine Bluff Arsenal in and later with the National Center for Toxicological Research. She retired in July of 1991. Viva was a member of White Hall United Methodist Church and previously served as president of the United Methodist Women, as Church Treasurer and on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She was especially fond of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Class and the Mature Members (M&M"s) organization at the Church. Viva was the first woman elected to the White Hall School Board and served as Board President. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Charter Member and past vice president of the White Hall Historical Society. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 4, and the service will be Monday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m., both at White Hall United Methodist Church by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The interment will be private. Reverends Johnna J. Galloway and Edward Wyers will officiate. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Hall United Methodist Church, 300 Church Drive, White Hall, Ark.
