Arthur Frank "Jack" Beshears of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away March 3, 2012 after a short illness. Jack was born to the late D.W. and Madge Sousley Beshears in Pawnee, Oklahoma and graduated from high school when he was only 16. He attended junior college at Oklahoma Military Academy before transferring to Oklahoma State University. He was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in marketing. Jack served in the United Stated Army during World War II in the field artillery, where he spent most of his time in combat in Italy firing Howitzer cannons. The army also utilized his business background to perform duties as a battery clerk. After the war, Jack settled in Muskogee, Oklahoma where he became a partner in the Beckman Well Servicing Company. The company later relocated to Midland, Texas. In the 1970's, Jack worked in oil and gas accounting at Tom Brown, Inc. until retiring in the 1990's. He relocated to North Little Rock in May, 2010 to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law. He spent his final years as a pool shark at Foxridge Assisted Living Center. Jack was a man of deep faith and was active in the First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas. He was a voracious reader, and loved all types of literature. He could always be found with a book in hand. He was also a fervent fan of Oklahoma University football despite having attended Oklahoma State University. Throughout his entire life, he was an avid exerciser participating in swimming, running, aerobics, and weight lifting. We will all miss Jack's kind, loving, happy demeanor. He had an extremely sharp, quick sense of humor and enjoyed giving everyone a nickname. He had a humorous quip pertaining to most any situation. Most of all, Jack loved playing pool with his daughter, Holly, for hours on end. Although he was an excellent player, he always insisted that he "couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a shot gun." Jack is survived by his daughter, Holly B. Trotta and her husband David of North Little Rock; his son, Brad Beshears and former wife Paula Beshears of Midland, Texas; nephew, Paul Wood and his wife Wendy of Little Rock. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Bean, Dr. Van H. De Bruyn, and Kristina Raley, APN for their excellent care and guidance during Jack's illness. We are also grateful to all staff members at St. Vincent's infirmary Little Rock in the Medical Intensive Care unit and 4 North West who were so kind and compassionate towards Jack and his family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the North Little Rock Friends of Animals, #1 Championship Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
