Ulysses Grant Baugh

Ulysses Grant Baugh, Sr. 81, of Little Rock, Arkansas transitioned to heaven on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at John L. McClellan V. A. Medical Center. Mr. Baugh confessed and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior February 2011. His birth place and childhood years were in College Station, Arkansas. He was the second child of ten siblings. Mr. Baugh graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School, NLR, Ark., in 1958, and later attended Shorter College after high school. He married Mae Holliman in 1954, this union five children were born. He was a sergeant in the Army, and spent three years as a POW in Korea. Mr. Baugh received honorary military medals in 1988 at the State Capital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He retired from the US Postal Service and loved fishing, traveling, playing chess, pool, riding motorcycles, going to the auctions, family gathering and "good soul food." He also enjoyed attending all the reunions with his family, College Station Family Days and the Korean EX-POW gatherings. His parents Charlie Spencer Baugh and Annie Celvine Neyland-Baugh; and two brothers, Charlie Baugh, Jr., and Frank Baugh all preceded him in death. His memory will be forever cherished by: his three sons, Bruce Baugh, of Atlanta, Ga., Ulysses Baugh, Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., and Kelvin Baugh (Brenda) of Carrolton, Texas; two daughters, Dwala Baugh-Williford and Sonja Baugh-McDaniel both of Little Rock, Arkansas; three brothers, Akbar Abdul Raheem (Deborah) of Conley, Ga., Lendy "Dean" Baugh (Billie) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elvin "Dewayne" Baugh of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Ruth Octavia Hill of Wrightsville, Ark., Juanita "Neet" Bentley (James) of Los Angeles, Calif., Joy "Verne" Maxwell of Charlotte, N.C.., Brenda "Christine" Richardson and Evelyn "Diane" Stubblefield (Hervie) of College Park, Ga., a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives, special neighbors and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care given by the entire staff of the John L. McClellan VA Medical Center especially CCU, Palliative Care Unit. Home going services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012, 10:30 a.m., at White Memorial United Methodist Church, 2801 Wolfe Street, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow with honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, Ark. Family hour will be Thursday, March 8, 2012, 6-7 pm, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Chester St., LR (501) 372.1305.
