David Dean Royer, Sr., age 84, of Little Rock passed away March 6, 2012. He was born in Little Rock on August 3, 1927, son of the late Joseph D. and Winnie Dean Royer. Dean attended Little Rock public schools and graduated from Kemper Military School in Booneville, MO. After graduation he joined the US Navy. He also attended Little Rock Junior College, now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He retired in 1984 from Hollis & Company, an industrial supply company after 36 years. After his official retirement he worked for several area businesses. Dean was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Anglers Sunday School class. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served on the battleship USS Iowa and on the heavy cruiser USS Columbus in the South Pacific. Dean is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Hall Royer; a daughter, Denise Royer Watson and her husband, Jeff and grandson, John David Watson all of Florida. Also surviving are several cousins and two nieces, Linda Pearson Mathis of Tennessee and Betty Danley of Scott, Arkansas. Dean was preceded in death by his son, David Royer, Jr. in 1983 and his sisters-in-law, Helen Danley and Vivian Pearson. A funeral service will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private with Dr. Randy Hyde officiating. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N.
