Gilbert Aaron Smith Jr.

Gilbert Aaron Smith Jr., 91, of Springdale, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at his home. He was born May 24, 1920 in Little Rock to Gilbert Aaron and Jayme Mamees Smith, Sr. Gilbert served in the United States Air Force retiring as a Lt. Coronel. He served in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church and he and his wife served in missions in the Philipines, India, France and Germany with the Southern Baptist Convention. He was a longtime member of the Heber Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Smith and B. Roy Smith. Survivors include his wife, Gearldean (Jerry) Smith of the home; one son, Randy Carr and wife Clarinda of Fayetteville; two daughters, Dixie Rynone and husband Stewart of Goshen and Gale Love and husband Bob of Springdale; one niece, Jayme Dizzley of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 1pm at The Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs, Arkansas. No visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 92 W.
