Jane McDonald "Mackie" Cutting, 85, died peacefully March 8, 2012 at Peachtree Hospice Center, Fort Smith, Ark. She was born on July 29, 1926 in Tulsa, Okla. to Cecil and Eutha McDonald. She attended Gulf Park College, "that lovely college by the sea," and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1947 where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She married Robert N. Cutting in 1948. They settled in Fort Smith where she was a homemaker and had four children. Mackie was a member of the Red Cross Motor Corps, Sparks Guild, and past president of the Sunshine International. She was past president of the Young Women's Community Guild, and a lifelong member of the Junior League of Fort Smith. Other activities included Girl Scout troop leader and bridge club. Mackie was Fort Smith and Arkansas State Women's Singles and Doubles Tennis Champion numerous times and will be remembered by many through her mentoring and fun-loving spirit on the court. In addition, she was a member of the 1964 Women's State Bowling Championship Team. Mackie resided at Willow Brook Retirement Community where was elected "Ambassador of the Month" multiple times. Mackie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Cutting in 2004. She is survived by a son, Robert "Randy" Cutting (Jill), and daughters Mary Harris Cutting, Margaret "Maggie" Neblett (Joe) all of Fort Smith, and Jane Cutting Panknin (Steve), of Leawood, Kan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Beth Jerry, Joanna Majka, Bob Panknin, Jerry Panknin, John Panknin, Niki Neblett, and Parker Neblett, and nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Monday, March 11, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Cremation and services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
