JOHN BROOKS CRABTREE, 84, of Sherwood, Ark. went to be with his Heavenly Father March 9, 2012. John was born in Clayton, N.C. on April 7, 1927. John was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ivan and Erma Crabtree; sisters, Algerline Jeffreys and Ruth Carroll; and brother, Kelly Crabtree. He leaves his loving family; wife of 64 years, Ruby (Barbour) Crabtree; son, John Crabtree Jr. and wife Suzy (Duke) of Katy, Texas; daughter, Angie (Crabtree) Scott and husband Brian of Sherwood, Ark. His grandchildren are Ashley Crabtree, John Crabtree, III and wife Regina (Elliot) all of Destrehan, La.; Adam Scott and wife Jamie (Sheldon) of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and two great-grandchildren, Laura Beth Scott and Vivienne Crabtree; and many loving relatives, family and friends. Mr. Crabtree worked in the cotton industry for 43 years with the Proctor & Gamble Company – Buckeye Cotton Oil Company and the Archer-Daniels-Midland Company – Southern Cotton Oil Company. He enjoyed the opportunity to work with these companies in many states; North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Arkansas. John made many wonderful friends along the way and stayed in touch with them, even after his retirement. Mr. Crabtree was a member of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Ark. During his years at Central Baptist Church he served as an ordained Deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. John's faith was strong and he was always eager to share his belief with others. Mr. Crabtree also loved his country and served in the United States Navy and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Rotary Club and served as President in Augusta, Ga. John loved to play golf and work in his yard. But, most of all he cherished his family and friends. And nothing made him happier than to spend treasured time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, March 12 from 6–8 p.m., at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, at 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church on Fairway Ave. in North Little Rock with interment to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Baptist Health Hospice and our special caregivers, Melodie, Chester, Richie and Renee. Because of you, our journey was a much more peaceful one. You will all always hold a special place in our hearts. Daddy Thank you for teaching us about love and faith.
