Benjiman Joyce Karr Jr. was born on September 24, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. He departed this world on March 12, 2012. He was the son of Ben "Baldy" Karr a professional baseball player for the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians and homemaker, Gussie Cunningham Karr. He was a long time resident of Earle, Arkansas. He moved to the Gould area in 1971. He was a farmer and later worked at Holtoff Inc. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Jonathan Karr and his brother, Robert Karr. He is survived by his wife: Maude Ella Karr to whom he was married for sixty-eight years; one sister: Helen Stewart of Earle, Arkansas; three sons: Benny (Jania), Barry (Dawn) and Mike (Meredith). His grandchildren are: Benji Karr, Sharon Karr, Kristie Karr Aldridge and Brandy Moya and ten great-grandchildren. Ben attended First Baptist Church of Gould and the family would like for memorials to be made to the church. That address is: First Baptist Church of Gould, P.O. Box 375, Gould, Arkansas 71643. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Gould Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Al Green and Rev. Dubs Byers officiating.
